Transcendental Meditation
Transcendental Meditation was brought to the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and has been learned by well over five million people. His life’s work was to revive and demystify the timeless knowledge of meditation, and verify its effectiveness through the lens of modern science, and began teaching in the 1950s. After refining and systematising the teaching of TM, Maharishi began a movement to make the technique available worldwide. He oversaw the training of thousands of teachers and established a non-profit foundation to preserve the authenticity of the TM technique for generations to come.
The Maharishi Foundation is the official organisation in the UK who teaches the authentic Transcendental Meditation brought to the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This total knowledge has been passed down from teacher to student, teacher to student verbally throughout the ages and the teachers today teach in exactly the same way so the purity of the teaching has been kept and is why it works today. All the teachers are certified teachers and our National Office has a complete list of all the certified teachers. (01695 51213).
Learn to meditate
Transcendental Meditation, as founded by Maharishi, is a simple, effective mental technique which allows the mind to transcend and settle to the simplest, most powerful state of awareness. It does not involve any effort, mental control or active thought process.
Transcendental Meditation unfolds the full potential of life and extensive research has found it reduces stress and anxiety resulting in more inner peace, creativity, health, success and happiness.

Local Certified Teacher
Liz Court learned Transcendental Meditation in 1967 and gained so much from the technique that in January 1970 went to Rishikesh, India to train under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to become a teacher. On returning from India she taught in Watford and started the Harrow Centre. When she returned from working for Maharishi in Europe, at his invitation, she taught in Guildford and started the Hampshire Centre. She says it is a privilege to teach Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and a great joy to see the changes that take place in students after they learn. This is so inspiring that she still continues teaching and running the Hampshire Centre today. This year (2025) she celebrates being an accredited teacher of TM for 55 years.
After our Certification course Maharishi told us that after all these years we now have all the Vedic Total Knowledge.
Free introduction to TM
Free introductory talks on Transcendental Meditation are held regularly over Zoom. The course to learn the technique can be taken in two different ways.
- The first day of learning, when the student actually learns how to practise Transcendental Meditation is face to face one to one with the teacher and then is assisted with videos which are downloaded onto the student’s mobile phone. They then link up with the teacher each evening at 8.00pm for more information and having their meditation checked.
- Consists of face to face one to one on the first day of learning and then three consecutive days of 1.5 hour sessions after learning which may be shared with other students.

Letters from Rishikesh
This book takes the form of excerpts from letters Liz Court wrote to her mother during her period in Rishikesh, India when she trained as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The epub version includes authentic photographs and sounds which will add to the flavour of this special time and place.
“When those of us who were with Maharishi in Rishikesh are no longer here, generations to come will always ask the question, ‘What was it like to be with Maharishi in India?” – Liz Court
